Randy drew a late-season rifle deer tag, and he was determined to make the most of every day of the hunt. As he works his way through the season, the hunt becomes an opportunity to talk about an issue that could impact hunters across the country: the push to dispose of small parcels of public land.

These smaller pieces of public ground might not look significant on a map, but they can be some of the most important acres a hunter has access to. For many hunters, these parcels are a favorite place to hunt, a crucial access point, or the gateway to much larger sections of public land.

Randy explains why hunters need to pay attention when these lands are labeled “suitable for disposal” and why losing even a small piece of public ground can have a much bigger impact than most people realize.
