Jim Heffelfinger heads north from Arizona to meet with our friend Jim Baichtal in Alaska. Jim studies Coues deer for Arizona Game and Fish, and his work with southern deer species has peaked his interest in Sitka Blacktail deer. It is believed that some of the first deer to come to North America came through a land bridge near present day Alaska. Hunting in Alaska helps Jim gain a greater appreciation and learn more about the historical biology of all our deer species. Jim Baichtal's hospitality makes the trip that much more special.
